Virgin and EasyJet join ‘Holiday to Help Out’ scheme offering huge discounts as Brits travelling abroad plummets

BRITS can get discounts and deals when booking their next holiday, as a new ‘Holiday to Help Out’ scheme is launched.

EasyJet Holidays, Virgin Voyages and Celebrity Cruises are just some of the tour operators and holiday companies who have signed up for the new initiative.

As bookings plummet and families avoid travelling, the industry has seen billions of pounds of losses due to refunds and cancellations.

Following on from the successful ‘Eat Out to Help Out‘ launched by the government, and HOSPA’s ‘Sleep Over to Help Turnover‘, holiday companies are offering their own deals and discounts.

Families who book through a tour operator as part of the ‘Holiday to Help Out‘ will be offered the discounts if booking a trip between November 2 and November 8.

G Adventures, Intrepid Travel, Just Go-National Holidays, Holidays Extras and Santa’s Lapland are just some of the other firms to sign up.

It has been launched by TTG, and isn’t backed by the government.

Sophie Griffiths, editor of TTG who has launched the initiative, said: “This industry has consistently been let down by the powers that be in Westminster so we decided to take matters into our own hands to shine some positivity on travel and try and kick-start the market by driving customers through agents’ doors.

“Inspired by the chancellor’s Eat Out To Help Out scheme, we hope the Holiday To Help Out initiative will create similar excitement about travel and prompt customers to go and talk to their local travel agent about booking the holiday of their dreams.”

More is to be announced regarding the deals and discounts on offer.

Also currently offering bargains and offers, HOSPA’s latest hotel scheme includes freebies such as room upgrades and complimentary booze and meals.

More than 20 hotels have signed up already – here is the full list.
