HOLIDAYS abroad are continuing to plummet in price as airlines and tour operators face mass cancellations.
Travel uncertainty has led to British families cancelling their summer trips abroad, with France, Italy and Greece affected.

It follows the last-minute u-turn by the UK government to put Spain back on the travel ban list, affecting thousands of holidaymakers who were given just four hours notice.
Airlines including Jet2 and TUI cancelled a number of holidays and flights to mainland Spain and the islands after the announcement.
TravelSupermarket’s Emma Coulthurst explained: “Since the FCO change of advice to only essential travel to Spain and the requirement of 14 day quarantine on return, price comparison searches via TravelSupermarket for holidays to Spain from the UK have unsurprisingly dipped by -80%.”
Yet holidays to other ‘safe’ destinations such as Greece and Turkey have dropped in price even more as searches increase – a week in Marmaris next month will set you back just £155 each, including flights and hotels.
Trips to Greece are still available for less than £200 while an all-inclusive holiday to Turkey this month costs just £355pp.
Emma continued: “Instead of a dip in demand since the announcement though, TravelSupermarket has seen that demand which it had seen rise in the last month or so since FCO quarantine exemptions and advice against non-essential travel had started to lift, shift in the direction of different destinations.”

“Those prospective holidaymakers, who are looking to holiday overseas, are turning their attentions instead to Greece, followed by Turkey and Italy and Malta and Croatia.
Holiday prices for both Greece and Turkey have dropped by 28 per cent since two weeks ago, while Italy prices have fallen by 52 per cent.
Here are some of the best holiday deals still available for August and September:
- Seven nights in Marmaris with London Gatwick flights on September 21 – from £155pp
- Seven nights in Corfu hotel with Liverpool flights on September 13 – from £187pp
- Seven nights in Rhodes with London Luton flights on August 23 – from £236pp
- Seven nights in Corfu hotel with London Stansted flights on August 23 – from £242pp
- Seven nights in Rhodes with Liverpool flights on September 2 – from £251pp
- Seven nights in Malta with Leeds flights on September 21 – from £221pp (was £294pp)
- Seven nights in Gumbet with East Midlands flights on August 20 – from £295pp
- Seven nights all-inclusive in Oludeniz with East Midlands flights on August 20 – from £355pp
Regarding holidays abroad if you’re still feeling uncertain, Emma advised: “My advice would be that if you’re looking for a holiday, packages give you that gold plated protection.
“If the FCO advice was to change to non-essential travel, then you are entitled to your money back for the package within 14 days.
“Book on a credit card for the extra consumer protection which it provides.
“Make sure you have travel insurance; there are many insurers now back in the market offering cost effective comprehensive policies and most will cover you for medical care if you were to contract covid while abroad.

She also warned about booking your own flights and hotels: “If you do decide to go down the DIY route, be aware of the T’s and C’s which you are signing up to.
“For example, with Ryanair, to benefit from no change fees, you need to change your flight within a week of travel and within two weeks of travel.
“For easyJet. You can still change your flight after that but you will incur change fees.”
