What is the latest travel advice for Cyprus?

Cyprus is expected to open to British tourists on August 1, but this may not work out according to local reports.

Most hotels and bars are closed due to coronavirus and the lack of British and Russian tourists.

Cyprus is currently on the UK’s travel corridor list, meaning that tourists will not have to quarantine after coming into the UK, according to the Foreign Office.

It is highly likely that you will have to take a coronavirus test before you are allowed into Cyprus.

Will I have to quarantine in Cyprus or when returning to the UK?

From August 1 you will not have to self-quarantine when travelling to Cyprus, according to the country’s health minister.

Cyprus’ tourism minister Savvas Perdios previously suggested Brits could be back as soon as July 15.

Speaking exclusively to Sun Online Travel, he said: “The UK is our biggest market, it’s massively important to us, and the situation there is improving all the time.”

As of July 23, the UK is still classed as category C “increased risk countries” by the Cypriot government.

This means that Brits will have to have a certificate with the results of a Covid test conducted 72 hours before they come into the country, or take a test upon arrival.

All passengers also have to file an application for the CyprusFlightPass within 24 hours of their departure flight.

Are flights operating to Cyprus?

While Brits will be able to return from next month, tour operators such as Jet2 and TUI have said they will not allow holidays unless the UK is moved to a category A.

Category B and C require a negative coronavirus test taken 72 hours before travel, while category A requires no testing or checks.

TUI’s website currently says “TUI is likely to start flying to Cyprus again soon.” and Jet2 appears to be accepting bookings from August 1.
