A NEW holiday resort with a hotel, 250 lodges as well as restaurants and shops may soon be built on the former Pleasure Island.
The theme park closed after 26 years in 2016, with many of the old rides and attractions sold off.

Now, new plans on Kings Road in Cleethorpes have revealed hopes for a £57 million redevelopment.
Within the 23.5-hectare site would be a 146-room hotel and conference centre, along with 250 holiday lodges.
The lodges would be positioned around a central lake, where water activities and sports could take place.
According to local media, the development website explains: “The holiday lodges will provide high quality, energy efficient accommodation and be designed with reference to the fitties.
“They will be laid out around the central lake which will provide a range of water-based activities to holiday makers.”

Also on-site would be a number of leisure facilities, restaurants, a Lidl supermarket and drive-through coffee shop.
The new site hopes to “provide new all-weather tourism and leisure uses” across the development as well as create new jobs in the area.
The development has yet to be approved, with a planning application for the proposed development to be submitted in autumn 2020.
The area has been left to fall into disrepair since 2016, when Pleasure Island closed due to falling visitor numbers.
