Malaysia Airlines has informed their customers in an email that they will implement an extension for Enrich members miles, lounge passes and flight vouchers.
One thing that Enrich members have been waiting for was an announcement about their Elite status extension but so far nothing has been said in regards to this.
Most programs have already published policies that extend the membership status of their members but with the update today Malaysia Airlines has not touched that area at all.
Here is what came via email today and can also be found on MH’s website here.
Due to continued travel restrictions in place, we understand that utilising your Enrich Miles and Golden Lounge Access Vouchers may not be feasible at this stage.

I’m not sure if this is really a serious suggestion or just a rather pathetic marketing attempt from Malaysia Airlines because this policy has nothing to do with relief considering the situation in Malaysia.
As it’s the case in many other countries Malaysia currently has a quarantine regulation in place and the measures are quite extreme as MH’s COVID Travel Information reveals.
Effective 21 May 2020, Malaysia Airlines will only allow passengers with valid written approval from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for interstate travel to check-in at the airport.
This is in accordance to Rule 6(3) in the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) (No. 5) Regulations 2020 dated 12 May 2020, which stipulates anyone having to travel from one area of infection to another or crossing state borders to obtain written approval from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) prior to travelling, by land or air travel.
Passengers without the written approval from PDRM will also not be allowed to cross any airport checkpoints before being allowed to proceed to the airside.
A clearance by the police to leave the country or take an airplane? What is the world coming to nowadays?? This is absolutely insane.
Nevertheless whatever the situation may be for MH to come out with a 3-5 month extension for some Enrich items is lackluster at best. They do however continue to hawk Enrich miles to corporate customers and banks to transfer credit card points to Enrich according to one of our frequent readers from Malaysia.
Conclusion
Very disappointing solution for affected customers of Malaysia Airlines Enrich in my opinion. With the country essentially transforming into a police state and total isolation it’s impossible to utilize Enrich miles and vouchers in the foreseeable future, most likely well beyond 3-5 months.
The fact that Enrich still hasn’t announced any goodwill extension for their status members is also a huge letdown, not surprising considering the overall customer service and program integrity of Malaysia Airlines and Enrich.
