The operator behind Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm filed for bankruptcy back in July (read more here). It was unclear at the time what would happen to this well known Accor hotel in Germany’s capital.
The hotel will become Dorint Kurfürstendamm Berlin from November based on an email that a reader forwarded from the hotel.
You can access Sofitel Berlin’s website here.

Here’s a partial copy of a message from the hotel:
Due to the current circumstances, unfortunately we need to inform you that our operating company. HAB-Betriebs GmbH, has followed its legal obligations and filed an application to open insolvency proceedings.
It has only been confirmed yesterday. that the hotel will continue to operate as hotel °Dorint Kurffirstendamm Berlin” from November onwards.
Please let us know if you are still interested to book a hotel room with us and let us know your travel dates.
Conclusion
I have to be honest and admit that I had never previously come across this Doris-brand that appears to have hotels only in Germany and Switzerland (only one).
There will be many reflags and deflags in the hotel space over the next 12 months when owners that face financial difficulties must let their hotels go and find new capital. Most will continue to operate but some with different affiliation.
