JET2 has today cancelled all holidays and flights to mainland Spain until August 17 after the quarantine-free air bridge was axed.
It comes just 24 hours after the company assured worried customers holidays would go ahead.

Jet2 announced this afternoon flights to mainland Spain would be cancelled until August 17
But a statement from Jet2 this afternoon said: “Following the latest government advice regarding travel to Mainland Spain from the UK, we have taken the decision to suspend our flights and holidays programme to Costa de Almeria, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia from 28th July up to and including 16th August.”
Jet2 had previously said the four Spain hotspots were “open and are located away from areas which have been impacted by increased cases of Covid-19”.
However the company has made a swift U-turn today, as hundreds of Brits scrambled to work out if their holiday could still go ahead.
Jet2 are offering customers affected by the cancellations a full refund, a rebook with no admin fee or a Refund Credit Note.
The company is contacting those already on holiday in mainland Spain to “advise them of their options regarding flying back to the UK”, and has asked customers not to call them.
A spokesman added: “We are having to make difficult and complex decisions in response to this, including keeping our policies under constant review.
“We urge the government to provide the industry with more clarity, so that we can keep our all-important customers up-to-date and informed.”
HOLIDAY CHAOS
On Saturday the UK government announced that people travelling from Spain from July 26 will have to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.
Before, the UK had allowed Brits to travel to the holiday hotspot without needing to self-quarantine on return.
But after a spike in coronavirus cases in Spain, holidaymakers in the country – including Balearic island hotspots like Majorca and Ibiza – will now be forced to quarantine for two weeks upon returning home to the UK.
It is thought more than 600,000 British tourists will be affected by the restrictions as many already on holiday or having booked one face uncertainty as to whether their trip will still go ahead.
EasyJet flights to Spain are still going ahead as planned, although the airline has cancelled package holidays until August 1.
Ryanair flights to mainland Spain are still running, but all TUI package holidays have been cancelled until August 9.

Flights are still departing from the UK to Spain, but the FCO has changed its advice to only travel to mainland Spain for essential reasons.
Some airlines like Easyjet are still flying to Spain and some hotels are still open.
However, the government has advised to only travel to Spain for an essential reason.
