The weather around Europe has been challenging for airlines this weekend and continues for a couple of more days.
There have been plenty of cancellations and flight delays as a result. Many airlines are offering waivers for rebooking flights later this week.
Here’s Lufthansa’s statement:
Due to the severe winter storm “Sabine” over Northern and Central Europe, Lufthansa Group flights may be affected until at least Tuesday morning (11 February). Please check lufthansa.com regularly for further information. Once you have provided us with your mobile data, we will inform you immediately by text message or e-mail about any changes to your flight. Please understand that we may not be able to provide you with a new solution immediately together with the flight information. This will be sent to you as soon as possible.
The “Deutsche Bahn” also expects disruptions and train cancellations, for this reason we do not advise an alternative planning by rail at this time. It is also not possible to exchange flight tickets for a train ticket.
A special situation is expected for the Lufthansa hub in Munich on Monday, February 10. This will not only affect an extensive suspension of air traffic until the early afternoon, but will also make it more difficult to reach the airport by car or public transport. Therefore, please inform yourself in detail before you start your journey to the airport.
