I found this infographic very interesting as almost like a time capsule. It immediately brought me back to lessons from history professors about how books and movies tell us more about the time in which they were written/made than the time they are about. I found this post at One Mile at a Time to be a fascinating glimpse into a historical period that is so recent as to logically be considered the present, but I’m certain than many of these answers would be entirely different if asked in January or July 2020.

My social media feed has been lit up with pics and videos of home haircuts for the past couple of months. To me, that part of the pandemic has been no big deal: my wife has been cutting my hair for more than a decade. I chalked that up to being a cheapskate, but what stood out to me about this post from Dr McFrugal was the compound calculator considering the long term cost savings. Granted, haircuts are cheaper in my neck of the woods and I rarely went monthly, but as a guy who isn’t too picky on hairstyle, I’ll take the long term savings of DIY haircuts.

There are many different apps and card-linked programs — it can be hard to keep your mind wrapped around all the options. However, this one looks like a pretty good fit for many, so it might be worth checking it out.

Citi never really extended the bonus spend period….

We talked about this post in this week’s Frequent Miler on the Air, but I’m including it here for those who may have missed it. While Citi announced via the PR team that they were extending the minimum spend period for cardholders who opened cards during a specific window, Grabamile reports not getting this extension and being told by customer service that they were not aware of any such extension. Like Greg, I am not at all surprised that Citi did not communicate this extension to their customer service team (remember a few weeks ago when Citi let us know that the Premier was earning 3x at grocery stores early? A reader chimed in a couple of days later to let us know that customer service told him they had heard no such thing and it wasn’t going to begin until August 23rd despite the fact that Citi had already begun awarding the bonus category. Citi doesn’t do a good job of keeping reps informed.). On the other hand, I am surprised that the author didn’t get the bonus automatically. We’re waiting to hear back from Citi’s PR team on this as they were clear about the extension initially, so I’m hoping to see a resolution on this.
