IHG did some IT upgrades or data cleaning last weekend that left some member accounts “frozen.”

Many readers were sending comments to us that they could not log into their accounts, and when contacting the customer service, if they even got through, they were required to go through the extensive questions for “securing” the account.

There were quite a few member accounts affected, as we get messages from quite a few of our readers.

It is still unclear what exactly happened here because some member accounts had been “frozen,” and readers had to go through hoops to reinstate them.
